November Confessions of Liberty

When you have seen what no man should see

Through the lens of a child’s mortal eye

Heartache takes on a strange twist

Loneliness is something terribly different

And all the poems about love and lost

Are now bittersweet lies with neither

The bitter nor the sweet.

There is certain cadence to

Recognizing wickedness

A ever-present beat

Giving life to unusual things.

It’s more than a heartbeat

It’s the pulse of the earth

Singing that

To

Make

Things

Better

Change

One

Person

At

A

Time

Make

The

Choice

Grab

It

Own

It

It’s

Yours

Alone

Pure Drip

I twist the ring on my finger
And smile at the pretty girl
She smiles back, a mix of blue
A mix of blonde

I flirt
She flirts back
I say something witty
She pretends to think
I’m witty

My eyes are warm
The hum of happiness
Is fuel for my passion
In this moment I am alive

I twist the ring on my finger
And smile again at my wife
She smiles back
A mix of blue
A mix of blonde

*snort*

When I was 21, I was quite the crazy man. I have a doc I called “Poems Written While Drunk and or Can’t Sleep”. I had forgotten about this doc for years and years. This evening I found it and lo, the very first poem:

Lover lost
Everything gone
Failed I have
I can’t go on

Cursed 7 times
Dead 7 times
Bled 7 times
Thirsted 7 times

Phone is ringing
8 is calling!

Yes, they are all that bad. Some are worse. MY EYES!
