Aaaaaaaaaaaand Hardcover!

April 05, 2014 Author: Anthony Pacheco Category: Awesomesauce  0 Comments

So I am switching to the hardcover format for my Lexus Toulouse Mysteries and will discontinue the paperback for Armageddon’s Princess. Specifically, the laminated hardcover format, where the printer puts the artwork on the cover and laminates it with a glossy finish. The final product looks amazing!

Sometime in the fall of 2013, my book sales shifted to eBooks by a wide, wide margin. Apparently my blip with print sales was an anomaly.

I’ve talked to a few people about what they like in a print book. Anecdotally, it seems to me these print-lovers love hardcovers. While the majority of readers I know, like myself, have shifted to eBooks,  there is still that fan of the literal printed word. The people I know who liked to only buy paperbacks switched to eBooks.

In that light, it makes sense to do a hardcover.  The print on demand hardcover from my printer, Lightning Source (an Ingram company), is of superior quality. The laminated, glossy cover is superior to the paperback cover and also superior in quality to a jacketed hardback cover you would normally find in a bookstore. The interior print is of better quality to the paperback, and the size ( 9.2″ x 6.1″) is perfect for the printed book lover. All that and a bag of chips: the price is only a few dollars more than the trade paperback edition.

You like print books? I got you covered, my friend.

Going forward, this series will be in eBook, hardcover, and audio.

Signed Hardcover Edition of Michael Z. Williamson’s Freehold on Amazon

March 11, 2014 Author: Anthony Pacheco Category: Awesomesauce, Characterization, Plot, Setting, The Craft  0 Comments

Freehold by Michael Z. Williamson is his groundbreaking debut while at the same time, the definitive libertarian science fiction genre reboot. That it came from the publisher Baen is just icing on the cake.

As most of my 32.5 readers know, I’m huge fan of eBooks. I do, however, buy hardcovers on occasion both as collector items and to share with other people. I bought the the Limited Edition Hardcover edition of Freehold the moment it went on sale. You can get it from Amazon here.

I consider the two great libertarian sci-fi works to be The Moon is a Harsh Mistress and Freehold. Check it out. You can also get the Kindle version on Amazon for the nice price of free.

I read Freehold once a year. It is my go-to book for a libertarian sci-fi fix. It’s that good. It’s way less preaching and way more action than many books before it examining the same topic.
