“Police, at all times, should maintain a relationship with the public that gives reality to the historic tradition that the police are the public and the public are the police; the police being only members of the public who are paid to give full-time attention to duties which are incumbent on every citizen in the interests of community welfare and existence.”

Sir Robert Peel, Nine Principles of Modern Policing

i love your sunday reflections. i’m also curious if part of the intention of the brave new age is to make sure everyone is a criminal…via a billion laws passed w/o regard to logic or consequence… so that anyone is arrestable at any given moment. just a thought.

Federal laws are already like that. I see no way we are going to change in the current New Age.

Congress passes inane laws faster than the courts have the capability to strike them down. This is the broken part of our three branches of government.

I love this quote. Two of my brother-in-laws are police officers and one of them actually has this up in his office (along with several other random quotes).
