Book Cover Peek

November 10, 2008  Author: Anthony Pacheco Category: Not Exactly Random   3 Comments

Literary Agent Kristen gives a peek at how a book cover changed from one version to another.

I believe the people who say “I would not buy the second version based on the cover” may be exaggerating, but it is an interesting discussion.

I’ve taken fornal classes in layout and design, and favor the revision by far. The original, however, is certainly not dog chow by any means.

He he he. Two years of Kindermusik. I knew all the good songs. I could even sing them in key.

One of the lessons I decided to wail out in my stage voice. I turned heads and Little Thing started clapping.

I was also know for tossing the child in the air. Weeeee!

this may be heresy to admit, but i totally choose books by covers. there are definitely authors i follow, so names do mean something occasionally, but usually i just wander the aisles & pick up interesting covers.

that said, i have shelves & shelves of interesting looking books. someday i’ll actually have time to read them all.

I read the blub on the back cover or jacket blub and the first two pages or so.

I will admit I am a sucker for a good looking cover. I just like books!
